When your horse needs urgent care, Island Equine Clinic is here to help. Our veterinarians provide prompt, compassionate emergency support.

What Counts as an Emergency
An emergency is any situation requiring unscheduled, time‑sensitive veterinary care, including but not limited to:
- Colic or signs of abdominal pain
- Severe or uncontrolled bleeding
- Non‑weight‑bearing lameness
- Eye injuries
- Respiratory distress
- Foaling complications
- Acute neurological symptoms
- Any condition causing sudden, significant pain or distress
If you are unsure whether your horse’s condition is an emergency, please call us. Early communication helps us triage appropriately and may prevent complications.
Emergency Fees
Emergency visits require the veterinarian to interrupt scheduled appointments and prioritize urgent care. Any horse receiving unscheduled, time‑sensitive attention will be charged an emergency fee, even if the veterinarian is already on-site for another emergency. When multiple horses at the same location need urgent care, a reduced fee may be applied at the veterinarian’s discretion.
